Why post-build cleaning is its own job
After construction or a renovation, a home is covered in fine cement and plaster dust, paint splatter, silicone, stickers and debris. This dust gets into every surface, cupboard and track — a normal domestic clean won't shift it. Post-build cleaning is a specialised, heavier job.
What it typically covers
- Removing builders' rubble, packaging and stickers (off windows, taps, appliances)
- Wet-wiping all surfaces to remove fine dust — repeatedly, as dust resettles
- Cleaning windows, frames and tracks inside and out
- Scraping paint and silicone off tiles, glass and floors
- Detailed cleaning of new bathrooms and kitchens
- Floor cleaning and sealing where needed
What it costs
Post-build cleans run R1,500–R4,500 depending on the size of the property and how much dust and debris there is. Bigger projects are usually quoted after the cleaner sees the site.
Tip: book it before you move furniture in
It's far easier (and cheaper) to do a post-build clean on an empty property before furniture arrives. Get free post-build cleaning quotes from vetted services in your area.
