Why we built this
South Africa has some of the best solar resources in the world, tariffs that keep rising, and millions of households spending 10–15% of their income on electricity. The maths on solar in SA is compelling — but the process of getting a quote was opaque, pushy, and time-consuming.
We built FlowLeads to change that: a platform that uses real data to give you an honest estimate, matches you with only the best installers, and never shares your details without your explicit consent.
What we stand for
Honest data, not marketing
Our estimates use PVGIS v5.2 satellite irradiance data and actual municipal tariffs — not artificially inflated numbers. We show you the real payback period, not the best-case scenario.
Data that works for you
Our calculations are based on real South African solar installations and satellite irradiance data. We size systems based on your actual usage profile, not a fixed ratio. If a 3kW system is right for you, we say so — even if we'd earn more recommending a 10kW.
Vetted installers only
We only work with SAPVIA-registered, insured installers. We remove installers who receive negative feedback. We'd rather have a smaller network of excellent installers than a large network of average ones.
Built for South Africa
Our platform is built specifically for the SA market: local tariff data, PVGIS data for SA cities, POPIA compliance, and an understanding of the load-shedding context that makes solar here different from any other market.
Who runs FlowLeads
Pieter Muller is the founder of FlowLeads, a Durban-based solar lead-generation platform for South Africa. A software engineer by background, he built FlowLeads to give SA homeowners honest, data-backed solar guidance — combining PVGIS satellite irradiance with live municipal tariff data, and matching qualified leads with SAPVIA-registered installers.
How FlowLeads makes money
FlowLeads is free for homeowners. We earn a referral fee when one of our SAPVIA-registered installer partners wins your business after we route your quote to them. The referral fee comes out of the installer's margin — it does not increase the price you pay, and it does not influence which installer we match you with: routing is based on suitability, response time, and homeowner ratings only.
In a small number of cases we also redirect homeowners to accredited comparison-engine partners; those redirects are clearly labelled and use the same disclosure rules. Where we link to manufacturers or product reviews, those links are editorial and never paid.
